For those who follow me, all 225 of you who I hope will at least take a moment to see this, I want to let you in on something amazing that I have the pleasure to help spread the word. Shelly Crane, a New York Times and USA Today best selling author know for her Young Adult Novel, has had the wonderful opportunity to see her book series called Significance, come to life on the small screen. However, she needs our help. For the past year this project has been trying to get up and running and already has two amazing actors on board: Jeremy Sumpter (Peter Pan) & Michael Welch (Twilight). The fans of this book series and those who have yet to read and fall in love with her books can all lend a hand at being a part of this amazing project!
So what exactly is Significance about?
At 17 years old, Maggie Masters is your typical teenager dealing with boy drama, graduating high school, and family issues. By typical I mean it’s more like her boyfriend of almost three years suddenly decides to dump her to pursue his college football scholarship thinking it’s less messy to just cut you off immediately. Her typical family issues involve her mother leaving her out of the blue without explanation and then her father or lack thereof, shutting down completely and ignoring her. Maggie was on the fast track to breezing right through the end of high school.
Then she meets Caleb Jacobson, the boy who will change her life forever with just one moment. In an actually fated moment, after graduation, Maggie is walking to a party where she has said yes to meeting up with a friend of hers who has been infatuated with her. She stops at a crosswalk and waits for the light to signal her to walk, noticing a boy in a hoodie standing a few feet away from her near the curb. He takes a step off the curb and is nearly plowed by an oncoming vehicle and would have been roadkill had it not been for Maggie barely being able to pull his backpack from behind. Caleb is extremely grateful for Maggie saving his life and as he shakes her hand… the stars align literally. Soul mates, two people destined to be together against all odds and in that moment their future together flashed before their eyes, one person knowingly in on it and the other clueless as to what is going on.
Maggie’s typical life becomes not so typical anymore now that she has been imprinted on. It gets even more testy when she finds out that Caleb belongs to a clan who have special abilities and have since had anyone in their families imprint on anyone and it’s been such a long time since an imprint has happened with a human. Maggie is thrown into this new life with life threatening dangers and new possibilities on top of finding her soul mate at 17. How could this possibly not end tragically?
How you can help make this possible!
To make this pilot competitive with the other TV shows, we have been told by our budget expert that 200k would be sufficient in bringing this Pilot to its prime and thus be on the same par with like YA TV shows. However, if we exceed our goal it will be that much better with being able to splurge with special effects. Every cent is used towards the project. Once we reach our goal we will begin immediately with prep and our projection month to start filming will be August 2014. If we do not reach our goal, we will still have that money towards production and begin the journey to find private investors, this however is extremely hard and we will not be able to start filming this year. Our hopes are to exceed our goal to make this the best it can be, to have the fans be excited to see their beloved characters come to life and to proceed to the 2nd episode.
The link below will take you to Indiegogo.com and will give you even more details on how you can make this project possible. It’s cliched to say that this is different from anything else you’ve seen in a Young Adult television series thus far but it’s the truth. If you love Sci-Fi and also happen to be a hopeless romantic, I say pick up the Significance book by Shelly Crane and let the words speak for themselves. This is definitely a one of a kind series that with the help of all of you can transition to the small screen with undoubtedly success. Now of course there are incentives to your contribution and realistically if everyone who reads this, shares with their friends and family and donates $30, we could get this show on the road!
Spread the word!
If you believe in this project I hope you will take the time to reblog this post and help spread the word! You can even take it up a notch and tweet support to Shelly Crane and the Significance series to anyone you believe would be able to help contribute to this pilot being shot and becoming a successful television series. Be vocal about your support and spread the word even further by posting about it on your Instagram and sharing the news through Facebook.
CHEERS! Let’s get this ball rolling!
Letting someone go has nothing to do with actually letting go of them, but letting go of the idea that our lives hinge on the requirement that one particular person plays a role in them.
It might be the hardest thing we ever have to do: find the grace to accept that which isn’t meant for us and the actions of those who aren’t meant for us.
We fear that when we truly love for the first time and that love is lost, we shall never feel that kind of love again.
I can say for certain that you will find that love again and it’ll be even better. You just have to let go of your fear and just live.
